This spectacular double penthouse overlooks the northern, tree-topped landscape of Toronto from the Yorkville perspective. The long view rests handsomely on the Imperial Life building on St. Clair West. I enjoyed working here immensely over the past year.
The project came about as an immediate response to a flood from an upstairs bathroom. The challenge was to integrate a new kitchen into an already firmly designed interior that was executed beautifully 25 years ago.
Once it was established that the kitchen cabinets on the main wall could not be salvaged, we went about having some fun. The client cooks in this kitchen (one of two) regularly and is thrilled to have updated appliances. All except of course, for the still good as new original Sub Zero fridge.
The former cabinets were a cerused light oak matched to the millwork throughout the condo. The kitchen was also outfitted with dark counters and only a few pot lights, so it follows that the most appreciated difference is the lightness and brightness of the space. All the lightened surfaces contributed but perhaps most importantly, the modern LED lighting which transformed a 7' ceiling into a welcoming work space. Welcome in.
